OUR MISSION
At Proficient Tax Solutions LLC, our mission is to provide each client with tax solutions that are based on their individual tax situation. We use a comprehensive assessment to help understand the needs of individual clients as well as small businesses. Our friendly and knowledgeable tax professionals will help educate and drive positive outcomes for our clients. Meeting the needs of our clients and maintaining their trust are the founding principles of Profile and we’ll work diligently to uphold those standards.
Who We Are
My Father, Eddie Simmons, started preparing tax returns while he was employed by Chrysler LLC. As it turned out, his colleagues became his target market. He started preparing income taxes on a small scale in the late 1980’s. As his retirement was looming, he started to prepare taxes for profit in 1993. Once he retired in 1995, Profile Income Tax was established and that was the start of my father’s second career.
In 2002, I joined my dad in doing tax returns to earn extra money while pursuing an accounting degree.
Over the years Profile has evolved from a post retirement idea into a family business that has been passed from one generation to the next. It is my goal to continue to grow and evolve into the best company possible.

What to bring
- W-2, earnings statement or pay stub for W-2 download
- Driver's license(s)
- Social Security card(s)
- Last year's federal and state tax returns
- Dependent information, such as Social Security numbers and birth CERTIFICATES
- Tax documents related to medical and educational expenses
- proof of residency for dependents (i.e. school, record, health record, court documents, landlord lease, child care statement or Social Service Records.)
- Proof of Head of Household Status (i.e. Utility Bill, Bank Statements, Property tax bill.)

Michael Simmons
I am a proud graduate of Wayne State University where I earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in 2005. In 2016 I returned to Wayne state to earn a Master’s of Science Degree in Accounting.
I have been preparing income tax returns since 2002. My accounting background and 17 years of experience have profoundly broadened my expertise in tax preparation and tax planning.
Lawrence Daniels
Lawrence has been a tax practitioner since 1999 and earned IRS certification while working for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. In 2003, Lawrence earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Lawrence has gained more than 15 years of experience in the accounting and tax profession from working for various corporations and audit firms. Lawrence served in roles that involved accounting, financial reporting, auditing and internal controls. His extensive work experience and knowledge of the tax code gives him the tools necessary to effectively assist clients with their tax and accounting needs.

If you are unable to schedule an appointment before April 18 we will be happy to file an extension for you and you may schedule an appointment for a date after April 18th up until June 3 to file the actual tax return.
